AG's Office Obtains Injunctions Against Several Moving Companies and Their Operators

The Louisiana Attorney General’s Office has obtained an injunction from the Twenty Fourth Judicial District Court in Jefferson Parish against several moving companies and their operators. The Attorney General’s Office contends that these companies and their operators have committed numerous violations of Louisiana Unfair Trade Practice and Consumer Protection Law, which include the moving companies and their operators holding their customers’ goods hostage and demanding higher prices than those originally quoted by them to their customers.

On March 5, 2010, State District Judge Pro Tempore William C. Credo III issued an order enjoining the south Louisiana based moving companies, Louisiana Moving & Storage, Inc., BLO, Inc., and White Haul Movers, L.L.C., from doing business, and preventing the companies’ affiliated operators and agents, William H. Oakland II, William H. Oakland III, William O. Knowles Jr., and Ricky J. Lerille from operating. The order also requires the moving companies and their operators to allow their customers to pick up the customers’ goods held by them free of charge.

The Louisiana Attorney General’s Office enforces the Louisiana Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Laws. If you believe you have been the victim of consumer fraud, please call the Consumer Protection Hotline at 800-351-4889 or visit our website at www.agbuddycaldwell.com and click “Consumers.”
